I'm in A/P school and we have a few Hueys. We're hoping to fire one up, but aren't 100 percent sure if we can do so with the rotors tied.

in UH1 Maintenance Questions

The Helo has sat for a while, and we're not entirely sure how/if it'll run. There is another one that was used for run ups and helo lessons, but it had a hot start about ten years ago, and hasn't been fixed since. I'm hoping to get at least one working, but I was curious if anyone knows if I can start the turbine without engaging the rotor. I'm pretty sure it can be done. I was just looking for any advice and suggestions before I get into the manuals that we have access to.
