I am in the process of removing the Pilot's Collective. Does anybody have experience with this task? I am looking for tips, tricks and/or shortcuts.

From Peter Frinchaboy:
First go to uh1ops site then resources, https://www.uh1ops.com/uh-1-resources, then TM55-1520-210-23-2, paragraph 11-11. This is where you begin . There is no quick or simple way. You will probably need to mark all the joints and both sticks relative to each other. When removing the cross bolts and tapered sleeves note their location, all the tapers may not be the same. Be sure to take care when removing the sleeves. You may need to unbolt the bearings & supports to allow enough sideward movement to remove the stick. Be very careful when unbolting the pilots stick, there are four mounting points for the stick and bearings. One on the upper rear is a Philips head screw. Be careful not to strip out the head or you are in trouble. You must position the stick so that you can hold the screw. If the assembly was installed with too much wet Zink chromate separating the parts may be externally difficult.
When reassembling the system and torqueing the bolts that hold the tapered sleeves I would not exceed 50 in lbs. Over torqueing will drive the taper in and crack the castings ( just like splitting wood ) putting back in it’s proper location is very important.
